It’s Not Just About the Clothes
By Keron Sears
Your shoes are polished and shining. Your shirt and tie are ironed and crisp. Your suit is flawless. And your watch is ticking and blinging. But how do you feel? Do you feel healthy and in shape? Do you feel relaxed and rested? You know what goes well with a good outfit? A healthy mind and body.
We here at Dressed to the Nines have lots of accessories to compliment your outfit. But it would not be fair to you if we didn’t help in the other area of your appearance…your health! So let’s talk about diet, exercise, and stress management.
You know you have heard it time and time again from your mom, your doctor, and the media about the importance of a balanced diet. So yes here it is again. A balanced diet is important. A proper diet provides your body with the vitamins and nutrients to stay healthy. And right along with that is what time you eat and how much you eat. Timing and portion control are also key factors to maintaining a healthy diet. It is essential to have a regular eating schedule with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two healthy snacks in between. You should also eat just enough to make you full and don’t overdo it. It is also recommended that you do not eat too late at night. This can lead to weight gain and a restless night’s sleep.
We know…exercising takes time, it can be tiring, and it hurts! But it is another key factor in maintaining good health. It is recommended that you do some form of vigorous exercise for at least a half hour three times a week. According to the Mayo Clinic some of the benefits from exercise are weight control, stress reduction, increased energy, and many more. There are so many forms of exercise to choose from, so get up and get moving!
So your outfit looks great. But man, you look like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. A great outfit is not complete unless the wearer looks cool, calm, relaxed, and confident. Not having proper stress management can lead to weight gain or loss, illness, depression and many more health issues. You can better handle stress by taking deep breaths, exercising, and listening to music; just to name a few. You can go to this WebMD link for more tips on relaxation and stress reduction.
